Shamanic Introductory Workshop - August

What is this event about

This event is experiential and covers the basics of shamanic practice. People usually find it an eye-opening experience that opens a rich and amazing world of possibilities. Participants are shown simple yet profound techniques to enter shamanic reality to reconnect to their own spirituality. Refreshments are included. No prior experience is necessary.

• The basics of how to do a shamanic healing for other people

First part: learning about the spiritual world

In the first part (approx. 1,5 hour) participants are introduced to core shamanism, the universal, near-universal, and common methods of the shaman to enter non-ordinary reality for problem solving and healing. Particular emphasis is on the classic shamanic journey, one of the most remarkable visionary methods used by humankind to explore the hidden universe otherwise known mainly through myth and dream.

Particularly, participants learn about the non-ordinary realities where the shamanic work to help ourselves and others is performed. In Shamanism there are generally three main areas, namely the Lower World, Middle World and Upper World. During this workshop we shall be concentrating on the Lower and Upper Worlds to make a strong connection with our power animal guides and our spirit guides:

1. The Lower World is usually full of lush verdant things, not unlike the Garden of Eden. Within the Lower World we would expect to meet our power animal allies and many wonderful places to explore. The Lower World is connected to the past, so that is where we go to obtain healing and information connected with past events.
2. The Upper World is usually a more ethereal place, where we can expect to meet our spirit guides, who will often be in human form (but not always) You will learn how to be open to whatever you are shown. The upper World is connected to the future, so this is where we would go to obtain guidance for our future.

Participants are also initiated into shamanic journeying, aided by drumming and other techniques for experiencing the shamanic state of consciousness and for awakening dormant spiritual abilities, including connections with Nature.

Second part: journeying to the Lower and the Upper Worlds to get in touch with your power animals and spirit guides

After a meditation we shall use the sound of live drumbeat to journey to the non-ordinary realities. The ancient cultures all knew the power of the drumbeat, and scientists have now acknowledged that the drum beats with the same resonance as the Earth. It is no wonder other cultures have called it the “Heartbeat of the Earth”. During the journey you will experience the magic of feeling the beat of the drum moving through your body and hear the other resonances that echo through the ether.

You will be journeying to your own non-ordinary reality map, first to the Lower World to meet your power animal guides, then to the Upper World to meet your spirit guides. These journeys form the basis for all Shamanic work, so it is important that we have a good grounding in the way we use this powerful practice.

During the journey participants can meet and study with their own individual spirit helpers in non-ordinary reality, a classic step in shamanic practice. They learn how the journey is utilised to restore spiritual power and health, and how shamanism can be applied in contemporary daily life to help heal oneself, others, and the Planet.

Practice also includes sharing and comparisons by participants of their discoveries in shamanic journeys.

In all the years we have been journeying to these non-ordinary realities we are still delightfully surprised by the joy and knowledge available to us there. Journeying to these non-ordinary realities not only will give you guidance and information, but it will also allow you to be creative in a most delightful way.

Once you have attended the initial workshop you can journey by yourself or join our weekly circle on Wednesday evening where you can fine tune your ability to connect with spirits, perform and receive spiritual healing.
